about Maham
Maham Qureshi is a visual artist based in Karachi, Pakistan. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. Her practice revolves around the body, ritual, and private spaces, examining how acts of cleansing, intimacy, and repetition shape one’s sense of self. Working primarily in sculpture, Maham often draws from performance, allowing gestures and traces of the body to manifest through material.
Her ongoing association with the Karachi Biennale Trust has continued to inform her thinking and practice. She currently works with the Biennale as Communications Lead and Educational Programming Coordinator, developing interdisciplinary programs that bring art into classrooms and engage young audiences in conversations around contemporary practice.
Alongside her studio practice, Maham is deeply committed to art education. She began teaching in 2018 and has since worked at several prominent institutions across Karachi, including Cedar College, St. Michael’s Convent School, and Eden College.
Rooted in Karachi’s restless urban landscape, Maham’s work reflects her search for stillness in the anxiety of the city, using materials and spaces of the everyday to explore how the body remembers, performs, and purifies.
