currently thinking about..
lately, i've been spending a lot of time thinking about the bathroom as a space that carries different notions for every individual.
i'm interested in the space for how it creates narratives. i try and recreate the ritualistic experiences the space is home to. through making, i explore how dichotomies exist within the space and how they overlap with traditions we have grown up listening and performing. how much of them actually make sense?
through making, i explore how ideas of cleanliness, purity, contamination and intimacy embed themselves in the objects, materials and actions.

hi there
this is Maham. i'm still figuring out how i want this website to look like - so please expect small changes now and then.
you can have the long story on my formal about me page, and for the short, casual story:
i'm an artist, a fine artist who was trained as a painter for most of my life but when I finally went to art school and was exposed to all the different forms of art that existed, I decided it was actually sculpture, installation, experiential art that drew me in the most. I want to create, sometimes re-create experiences. experiences I'm yet to experience, experiences I want you to experience, experiences that you and I can go back to and stay with. for a while.
other than being an artist, i like to teach. i've been teaching since i graduated from my A levels (no one took me seriously) (just kidding) (or not) (you will never know).
if you truly want to learn something, be someone, get somewhere, there's no force in in the world, in the universe in fact, that can stop you. you're never too young, too old, too stuck, or too lost, to do things for yourself, especially learning.
other than teaching, i have worked for non profits, art organisations, primarily managed projects for them, lead educational programs, know a thing or two about managing galleries and residencies and working with biennales. i love getting to know creative people and i look forward to ways in which we can collaborate with and help each other.
look around and explore, this is my little space that i created to organise myself, and everything i do. hope it's worth the clicks.

stay connected with me on instagram, where i'm usually active on my stories.
drop a DM for any questions about my work, bounce off ideas you may have about yours (because why not?), or just to say hi
